New Orleans: Where to Eat

7/02/2019

I recently went to New Orleans for my birthday. I always liked traveling when it comes to celebrating my birthday. This year I decided to visit New Orleans as I've seen so many beautiful photos online.
There are so many Instagrammable spots in NOLA and I would definitely come back for more!

FOOD:

Whenever I visit a place, I always try their delicacies.
New Orleans is one of the culinary capitals of the U.S.
I had to try their famous traditional foods like Gumbo, Jambalaya and Po-boy.

Gumbo Shop
630 St Peter, New Orleans, LA 70116

This is my favorite restaurant for Gumbo! I've been to other restaurants and this is the only place that serves chicken gumbo. I'm allergic to shrimp so I couldn't eat the seafood gumbo.
Luckily, Gumbo Shop has chicken gumbo. So if you're allergic to shrimp, come to this place!

MOTHER'S RESTAURANT
401 Poydras St, New Orleans, LA 70130

Beyonce sent me here. When I saw this picture of Bey, I immediately added it to my bucket list.
Mother's is known for their ham. But, I'm not really a ham person. I was searching for the best fried chicken in NOLA. I found recommendations online and Mother's came up.
First of all, there is a long line. You don't get to sit first. You have to line up and pay for the food you order. Then, you get to choose a table. Most of the Uber drivers told us that this restaurant is overrated. For me, I just went there for the picture 😂.
Their fried chicken is good. But wait till I tell you where you can eat the best!

WILLIE MAE'S
2401 St Ann St, New Orleans, LA 70119

President Obama went here. This is the winner for the best fried chicken in NOLA!
I had fried chicken paired with red beans and rice just like what President Obama had.
You should eat here. I guarantee you they have the best fried chicken!

DOOKY CHASE'S

Another restaurant President Obama visited. Originally, we planned to eat at the main location. But, they close at 3 P.M. Luckily, they have one at the airport! As I've mentioned, I'm allergic to shrimp, so I had black beans and hot sausage instead. Of course I had to try their fried chicken too!
They have good food. I recommend eating here if you're waiting for your flight.
Or you can visit their main location before 3 P.M.

CAFE DU MONDE

Have you seen Princess and the Frog? I was really curious about beignets after watching that movie.
I've also seen Kim Kardashian on KUWTK eating beignets.
I went to two locations of Cafe Du Monde, the original branch and the one inside Riverwalk Outlets.
I had to stop by before midnight and breakfast because they're just hard to resist.
I flew back to New York with a dozen beignets!

They're open 24hrs, 3 beignets costs $3, and they only accept cash.

OCEANA

Three Uber drivers recommended this restaurant. The line is pretty long so if you're not into long lines, this place is not for you. But, I enjoyed their food!
I had their signature Redfish Oceana dish and it was delicious!
For seafood, I recommend this place!

I haven't explored other restaurants, but I will do that on my next visit!
NOLA is now one of my favorite places and I'll surely come back!
